Environmental Protection

As part of the state project Biodiversity Preservation and Ecotourism Development of the Ecology national project, Ertis Oil & Gas, LLP has been supporting the Business and Biodiversity initiative of the Kazakhstan Ministry of Nature and Ecology since 2022. The Plan of Priority Measures for the Preservation and Restoration of the Astana Population in Kazakhstan, on which Natural State Reserve and Ecology were designated as the contractors, served as the foundation for the agreement between the Ministry and the business.

The water supply system, boiler house, and feed kitchen of the Nursery of Rare Crane Species of the Astana State Reserve were restored thanks to the company’s financial assistance. A diesel generator was bought to guarantee the continuous functioning of machinery and incubators, an aviary for housing cranes was renovated and insulated, and an automobile was needed for production requirements. Experts from the Ecology Research Institute of Kazakhstan conducted a trial trip to Yakutia with the aim of gathering Siberian Crane eggs from the wild and restoring the genetic variety of the white crane aviary group at the Astana Reserve Nursery.

The Astana field and its surrounding surroundings have been the site of the company’s implementation of the Biodiversity Conservation Program since 2022. The Program was revised in 2023, and the amended version includes work on the research of the flag species, the wild reindeer, as well as lists of plant and animal species that serve as indicators of the sustainable state of ecosystems. The Biodiversity Preservation Program has been implemented in Ertis Oil & Gas, LLP sites since 2021. A program was established in 2022 to investigate the important wetland ecosystems of the Central Astana Uplift in order to create a new plan aimed at reducing negative environmental effects and protecting biological variety. This was based on the inventory assessment of biota and the identification of indicator species.
